Welcome to Maumeow.com! Our Breeder name is Bastetra. 'Ra' is in reference to the Egyptian Sun God 'Ra', and 'Bastet' refers to his daughter. Bastet is the Egyptian God of cats and was also depicted as a cat and a great following developed for the keeping and breeding of cats in temples, where they were cared for, protected and worshipped.

The Egyptian Mau is both rare and the only domesticated breed which is naturally spotted.  Maus make wonderful companions, combining a loving personality with an outgoing athleticism; extreme intelligence with an active enquiring manner and a stunning appearance. The three recognised colours are Silver, Bronze and Smoke - all being equally spotted.  Their bodies are randomly spotted while their legs and tails are more banded.  They are friendly, loyal and especially affectionate to their owner and their family. They enjoy lots of playing and love being the centre of attention.

We are based in Hertfordshire, not far from St. Albans.
